Always look for Yamaha when you are in the Beginner section of your Guitarists life, and the Yamaha Gigmaker Standard Acoustic Guitar Pack is of course a good start. So this acoustic lesson in a box is a guarantee to get anyone playing right? Well most definitely.
Yamaha has been renowned with their good quality guitars and music schools, and now we are taking a look at the Yamaha Gigmaker Standard Acoustic Guitar Pack. This set comes with all that is necessary for someone to pick up a guitar and begin playing. The guitar that come with it is a regular no cutaway FG, a great starter guitar if I don’t say so myself.
The guitar is made of spruce for the face and nato for the back and sides, this gives a bright and clear tone to the guitar, something very important to beginners as they need as much clarity as possible to differentiate the tone and pitch of every single note they play. The rosewood bridge adds to the playability, and the strings are soft and the action is just right. The FG is a great guitar overall, so one wouldn’t be shy to pick it up and play it.
The set comes with a instructional DVD, that is very helpful but I would have opted that they include something more accessible as well like a book. An electronic chromatic tuner is ever present to spoil the beginners, the tuner works as it is supposed too but it will be a little off sometimes.
The gig bag that comes with the set is quite average, the quality is at the point where you would consider to buy a better one, but I think that wouldn’t be much of a problem. Straps and picks are ever present in the package, enough to keep the aspiring beginner entertained. The best part about this set is that is comes with a set of extra strings.
In general this Yamaha Gigmaker Standard Acoustic Guitar Pack is the best for anyone who wants to learn to play an acoustic guitar, all the necessary tools and an instructional DVD all that was missing was a book however, as I feel that learning on paper is a better approach. Getting this for yourself or for a student is great, I definitely recommend this for beginners.
